A considerate tip
“Walk one way if you can: the breakwater and forest paths are part of the experience. Camellias often begin around January and are fullest around March, but bloom timing and train service vary—use the official timetable on the day.”
Practical notes
- Address
- Odongdo entrance · Sujeong-dong, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do Taxi card: 전라남도 여수시 수정동 산1-11 (오동도 입구 동백열차)
- Hours
- The Camellia Train runs about 1.2 km between the Odongdo entrance and the stop near the music fountain. It does not run 12:00–13:00; in November–February service is shortened to 17:00. Check the seasonal timetable.
- Getting there
- Yeosu-Expo Station (여수엑스포역) is the practical rail reference for Odongdo. Yeocheon Station (여천역) is a different stop, so check the final station before booking. From Yeosu-Expo Station, use a short taxi ride or walk toward the Odongdo entrance; take the Camellia Train or walk across the breakwater.

Choose between the island walk and train by route
The Camellia Train covers part of the route from the entrance toward the island; it does not loop around all of Odongdo. If you want the breakwater and forest walk too, you can walk one way and consider the train for the return, subject to the day’s timetable.
The lunch break and earlier winter finish affect which direction to walk first. Check the entrance timetable before boarding; if the service does not fit, plan the island walk and your return time on foot.
