Busan · A quiet mountain temple

Beomeosa Temple

At the foot of Geumjeongsan, Beomeosa is a working mountain temple rather than a quick photo stop. A bus or taxi from the metro brings you to a broad temple approach, stone gates, pine shade and a layered complex of courtyards. Give it time to slow down: the atmosphere is quieter than central Busan, and the most useful detail is simply knowing the last-mile transfer before you set out.

A considerate tip

“Visit Busan lists the temple as open daily 08:00–17:00, year-round and free to enter. It is an ascetic place for monks, so speak softly, follow any on-site photography or building-access signs, and do not treat worship or ceremonies as a performance. Grounds have stone steps and gentle slopes; use shoes with grip, especially after rain. Templestay is a separate reservation activity, not included with a free temple visit—check the official booking page for the current programme, language support and price.”

Plan for the free visit and final bus transfer

Beomeosa is listed as open daily 08:00–17:00 with free admission. Monks practice here, so keep your voice low and follow on-site directions about photography or entering buildings.

After changing from the subway to bus 90, walk about five minutes from the ticket-office stop. Choose shoes for steps and slopes, and consider a taxi if the transfer is difficult for someone in your group.
